In Përmet you will enjoy the hospitality, greenery and the atmosphere of a quiet city. During the summer, in Përmet you will find numerous beaches, in ponds formed as pockets on the banks of Vjosa. For example, the city of flowers, dahlias, singing songs, purity and tranquility (known in antiquity as “Tryphilia”, inhabited by Illyrian tribes), is known as an administrative center since the 15th century. Today we invite you to visit the “City Stone”, a monumental, rocky massive rock mass that Nature has generously donated to the city to make it unique. Visiting the churches, we highlight the church of Leusas (XVIII century), which is famous for iconostasis, frescoes, as well as the church of St. Mary in Kosina (XII century).
Përmeti is the birthplace of many of the great artists of the Albanian pantheon as well as Frashëri’s brothers and many other prominent personalities of politics, science, letters, music and figurative arts that have laid the foundations of the Albanian nation. As we are in the Albanian pantheon, do not miss the opportunity without going up to the mountain village of Frashër, about 30 km from the city. On the way to the mountain village of Frasher, you will spend the night in the middle of the Hotovë National Park, an unparalleled panorama among the fir trees and pines. Here you can go hiking, camping, etc.
Other attractive attractions are the thermal waters of Benja and Lengarica valley, which is only 3 km away from the city. There are six open “outdoor” natural resources, which are curative for various diseases. The water temperature is 26-32 degrees C and the latter have curative properties in the treatment of stomach, skin and rheumatism. These waters originate from the beautiful “Two Bridges” canyons belonging to Ali Pasha Tepelena’s time: The Bridge of Kaik and Dashi Bridge. As you leave Përmeti, the road leads to the Greek border, which is only 30 km from the city and to the famous Leskovik, famous for the thermal waters of Vronomeros and the Postenan steam baths.
During the summer you can follow an annual rowing race, where sailors leave from neighboring Greece, at the edge of the Pind Mountains, from the Vjosa River and expect a ceremony at Përmet. This annual ritual is also repeated for two other events such as: “Multicultural International Festival”, which takes place in June and “Wine Day”, which takes place in May. During this month there is also a national meeting devoted to outstanding figures born in Frashër.
